Applied Improvisation with Rachel Bellack (Detroit, Second City)

So much of what we deal with in business and in life is deficit focused. “What’s the problem?” and “How do we fix it?” are common questions. This mindset leads to mediocre outcomes and a lack of innovation.

Improvisation is different in that the focus is on what we, as a team, can build and create that didn’t exist before. It utilizes the unique strengths of all to generate engagement, excitement and a compelling vision of the future in which each team member is, at various times, both a leader and a follower. When you watch a performance you can see that this can lead to amazing outcomes and true innovation.

This highly experiential workshop will introduce you to a variety of tools and processes to facilitate positive change in organizations, teams or individuals. Using activities and concepts derived from Applied Improvisation, Positive Psychology, Appreciative Inquiry and Intentional Change Theory we will explore the following topics:

• The Power of Questions

Participants will come away with practical tools, activities and processes that they can use immediately in their group or organization.
